Most relations that you have studied in mathematics have been linear. However, many non-linear also exist in real life.

### Verify Properties of Triangles

In this section, you’ll see how you can use some basic math formulas, such as the midpoint, length, and slope formulas to verify properties of specific triangles. With that, you’ll learn how to verify the centroid of a triangle, and discover how it divides each median into two parts, with one part twice the length of the other. Finally, you see how line segment joining the midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to the third side and half its length.

Let’s take a look some videos that prove these key concepts. This first video demonstrates how the medians of a triangle all pass through a common point called the centroid.

This next video shows how lines connecting the medians of adjacent sides of a triangle are parallel to the opposite length. In addition, the lines differ in length by a ratio of 2 to 1.
